Are your sweets gluten free?
Most of the milk based sweets are gluten free, as well as the chickpea flour based Laddus, and Kaju Katli (cashew nut burfi made with only cashews and powdered sugar).
Do you have vegan options?
Yes. We currently have 5 vegan sweets, and most of the food is vegan. In addition, we offer almond milk instead of dairy for all hot and cold drinks, coffee, tea, milkshakes, smoothies, iced coffee etc.
What is the shelf life of our sweets?
Shelf life depends on the type of sweet. We encourage people to consume sweets as soon as you receive them. The nut burfis can last up to a maximum of 10 days, laddus can last up to 10 days (max) and milk sweets 7 days (max) in the refrigerator.
Do any of your sweets contain eggs?
NO. All our sweets are vegetarian and contain no animal derivatives, ghee or lard.
Do you ship?
YES. Because our products are perishable, all food sales are final. There is no policy of refunds or replacements.
We ship to all states in the US except Alaska and Hawaii and provide a tracking number directly after mailing the package. Customers pay for shipping at standard FedEx rates. Please note that we pack all items in FedEx padded envelopes or boxes, depending on the volume ordered. We are not responsible for the condition of the package on arrival in the event of FedEx mis-handling, delays, or weather conditions. In the event of any shipping problems, we encourage customers to file direct claims through the FedEx website.
Mithai Indian Cafe is not responsible for damage or loss as a result of shipments being returned to the freight location or being un-deliverable, as a result of incorrect address information you supply to us, or for inability of a recipient to receive the package on the day you specify that it should be delivered.
We wish we could assure proper handling and prompt receipt of packages once they have been delivered to the correct mailing address by the third party carrier, but this is out of our control. To enjoy the full flavor and freshness of our products, we urge you to make the necessary arrangements beforehand. If your package is returned to us because of an incorrect address provided by you, because of its perishability, we must dispose of the contents and you will not be refunded.
Refunds for any unavailable items at the time of your order can only be credited to the originating credit card.
How much does shipping cost?
Depends on the weight of your order and the flat rate to your zip code. You may choose to pay more for overnight or next day shipping. We use 2 day ground shipping or overnight shipping which will cost considerably more. For urgent orders, please call on 919-469-9651 to discuss faster mailing options. Because we do not use any preservatives, we only ship on the first three days of the week to avoid delays in transit over the weekend.
Can you substitute dairy for vegan milk for drinks in the cafe?
Yes, we always have vegan milk for anyone who is lactose intolerant or follows a vegan diet. This is an option for all hot and cold beverages in-store but not for confectionary.
How can I pay if I place an order over the phone?
We have a secure manual transaction method where you can give us your card number after which your receipt can be sent to you via email directly from our merchant system or by sms if you prefer.
Do you deliver?
We are using Grubhub for local deliveries of orders. Otherwise, at this time, we are unable to provide delivery services.
What kind of Milk do you use?
We only use farm Fresh Milk from Homeland Creamery. All milk sweets, paneer, chai, coffee, milkshakes and hot chocolate drinks are made with this organic milk that does NOT contain antibiotic or RBST growth hormones. We do NOT use commercial store bought milk, quick dried powder milk, evaporated milk or milk derivatives.
What brand of coffee do you serve?
We grind fresh coffee beans from Larry's Coffee, a premium roaster of coffee beans since 1995. For more info, check out www.larryscoffee.com and see how the whole concept is very different from and beyond Starbucks!

Special Order and Catering Cancellations
All customized orders are prioritized over in-house production and if cancelled will result in loss of our sales production and wastage of products. Cancellations within 72 hours will incur a 40% charge of the total order. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a 60% charge. A cancellation within 24 hours of delivery will incur a 100% charge.
